friendship: Then vs. Now

I've been thinking a lot about how people consider others as friends now. Just like anything people evolve, change with the time, their environment, what's available to them, what's not...

I made up a little list of how friendships now-a-days compare to the old fashion days..
How do you measure up?

Then: People were there for each other within a week via horse & carriage.
Now: People can jump online and skype a homie within minutes.

Then: When people had birthdays you send them a letter via snail mail.
Now: You don't even NEED to remember people's birthday's, as long as you check your FB, it will tell you, write on their wall, done deal.

Then: When a friend is down, you travel over to their house & deliver baked goods.
Now: You 'like' their depressed status.

Then: When you haven't heard from someone in a while, you pick of that thing attached to the wall...yes, a house phone & give them a call.
Now: You 'poke' them online.

Then: When no one else will, you show support for a friend by being by their side.
Now: You 'retweet' them.

Then: When someone was being bullied, you stand-up & say something.
Now: You 'like' their status when no one else will.

Then: You shared ideas, stories, fun memories in person.
Now: You go on their pinterest and see what they are currently into.

You catch my drift?

People rely on technology for too many things now. It's taking over people's lives, try and go above & beyond societies idea of being a good friend. Soon people aren't going to even know how to talk to each other in person. People will start to carry around printed emojis on sticks, so they can hold them up for when people ask them how they are.

Stay personal.
